More Batman!
“Mission” Statement
Why did I make this guide?
In 2020 the company Spin Master began making figures based on DC Comics characters. In the roughly 4-inch scale, there are two separate lines: a Batman (sometimes subtitled “The Caped Crusader”) line for all things Dark Knight, and a DC Universe line for everyone else.
Spin Master tried to play up a collectible/blindpack element to the figures by using mystery accessory loadouts. In the first year, subtitled “Creature Chaos” for Batman and “Heroes Unite” for DC Universe, there are “missions” that determine the loadout. There is a punch-out card on the inside flap; the background of this card corresponds to the mission and the accessory loadout. Careful collectors seeking a specific loadout could peek at the card to see which mission they would get. All of the missions and the accessories they contained were detailed on an insert that came with each figure.
DC Universe went on hiatus after the first year, but the Batman line continued as Bat-Tech. Gone were the cards and there was only one mission per wave, but due to some misprinting on the inserts this wasn’t clear until the last Bat-Tech wave. Additionally the inserts only showed one accessory for each figure, presumably to retain the “mystery” without doing multiple loadouts.
Even on the inserts that show all the accessories, it can be tough to figure out what the actual color/finish of the accessory is. Complicating matters is that Spin Master hasn’t made any sort of database available, and many collectors promptly tossed the accessories in a drawer. If you want to know if a figure is complete, what are you supposed to do?
Lucky for you, dear reader, this is a topic my brain has chosen to fixate on. Each button leads to a page with a scan of that wave’s insert and a gallery of all the figures from that wave (including store exclusives). I realize some of the photography is rough, but my priority was on just getting this resource together. I’ll be updating as time permits.
THERE ARE A LOT OF MISSING FIGURES. If you can help fill in the blanks, get in touch!
